All About the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria VA

Looking for something different to do this weekend? Try this! Check out the Torpedo Factory Art Center, the highlight of the Potomac Riverfront in Alexandria, Virginia. Located in an old munitions plant, the Torpedo Factory was founded in 1974 and is home to the nation’s largest collection of working artists’ open studios under one roof! 

What Types of Local Art and Artists are Featured?

You will find 71 studios where artists work in a wide variety of mediums.  The art forms on display range from painting to ceramics, photography, fiber, stained glass, sculpture, and more. See something you like? The Torpedo Factory Art Center’s website features artist bios and links to each artist’s personal website where you can purchase some of their work.

How Much Does the Torpedo Factory Cost?

Admission is FREE! The Torpedo Factory Art Center is generally open from 10am – 6pm daily with some exceptions for holidays and special events. Be sure to check their website for hours before heading out.
