A Guide to Loudoun’s Farmers Markets

15 West Homes May 26, 2021

Loudoun County is home to a bunch of different seasonal and year-round farmer’s markets which feature fresh produce; baked goods; responsibly-farmed meat, eggs, and dairy; gifts, and more. Here’s a look at some of the more popular farmers markets in Loudoun and what you can expect when you visit.

CASCADES FARMERS MARKET

Sundays 9 am–1 pm

21060 Whitfield Drive, Sterling, Virginia

One of the oldest farmers markets in Loudoun County, the Sunday Cascades Farmers Market is a staple on the Loudoun Valley Homegrown Markets Cooperative circuit. Operating on Sundays in April through December from 9 am–1 pm, the Cascades Market features vendors like A Farm Less Ordinary, which provides employment and a welcoming community to people with developmental and intellectual disabilities; Catoctin Creamery, which is a small alpine dairy goat farm that sells fresh cheese; and Lesley’s Garden, which sells gorgeous, Virginia-grown flowers.

GILBERT’S CORNER FARMERS MARKET

Saturdays–Sundays 10 am–3:30 pm

Route 50 and Route 15 Roundabout

Located at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 15, just east of historic Aldie, Gilbert’s Corner Farmers Market is a fan favorite because of its diverse selection of vendors, including an excellent selection of lunch options. One of the most visible vendors at the market is Great Maine Lobster Co., which serves up “wicked good lobster rolls,” live lobster, and other lobster products. Not a fan of shellfish? You could try to change things up with a little sweet-and-spicy combo with some hot pickled peppers from Salsa Dave and a jumbo bag of freshly popped kettle corn from Fun Country Kettle Corn.

LEESBURG FARMERS MARKET

Saturdays 8 am–12 pm and Wednesdays 4 pm–7 pm

Virginia Village Shopping Center, Leesburg, Virginia

Operating under the Loudoun Valley Homegrown Markets Cooperative flag, the Saturday Leesburg Farmers Market is one of the most popular markets in Loudoun. Located at Virginia Village Shopping Center off Catoctin Circle, the market regularly features fresh produce, grass-fed meat, freshly-baked pastries, pickled vegetables, and hot breakfast sandwiches. LVHMC markets are “producer-only” meaning that the vendor must be the grower or producer of all the products they sell, and they must produce their product within a 125-mile radius of Loudoun County. Can’t make it on Saturday? The Leesburg Farmers Market is also open on Wednesday evenings, although there is a smaller selection at the midweek market.

ONE LOUDOUN FARMERS MARKET

Saturdays 9 am–1 pm

One Loudoun, Ashburn, Virginia

The EatLoco Farmers Markets are the relatively new kids on the block, but their gigantic selection of vendors and high visibility from Route 7 make their market at One Loudoun one of the largest and most visited markets in Virginia. With almost 100 vendors and more than 2,000 customers per weekend, the One Loudoun Farmers Market has quickly become a weekend destination and “place to be seen,” all while featuring fresh produce and protein; beverages, hot food, and prepared meals; hand-crafted artisan goods; and more. If you can’t make it on Saturday, EatLoco also hosts a Sunday market in Brambleton.

PURCELLVILLE FARMERS MARKET

Saturdays 10 am–1 pm

Fireman’s Field Complex, 250 S. Nursery Avenue, Purcellville, Virginia

Featuring local honey, jewelry and crafts, and fresh and dried herbs, as well as farmers market staples like eggs, fresh fruits and vegetables, poultry, and beef, the Purcellville Farmers Market aims to offer a direct experience of food and community, by supplying its guests with fresh, healthy, and locally produced items which coincide with their community outreach and involvement efforts. One of the more unique market members is Scarpinato Arts & Bakery, a home-based business that specializes in baking, knitting, and painting.
