Our weekly local business highlight is focused on all the amazing small businesses that make Northern Virginia such a great place to live and work. The week we invite you to a Taste of Nostalgia at the Leesburg Diner!

Located in the heart of historic downtown Leesburg, Virginia, the Leesburg Diner stands as a true testament to the enduring charm of American diners. A beacon of nostalgia in this picturesque town, the Leesburg Diner offers not only a sumptuous menu but a time-travel experience that harks back to the golden age of diners.

History

The Leesburg Diner has been a downtown institution since 1865. It’s reportedly been a restaurant of some sort since that time, but part of the building was also home to a jewelry store at one time.

Under New Ownership

Earlier this year, the husband and wife team of Gary O’Hanlon and Jennifer Demetrio jumped at the opportunity to purchase the Leesburg Diner. Both possess years of experience in the restaurant industry and own and operate Cafe Kindred in Falls Church. Patrons will notice updates like a bright coat of fresh paint, new handmade tables in the backroom, and new tile around the front counter. But don’t worry, the classic wooden booths remain!

The Menu

The menu is a treasure trove of American comfort food classics. Whether you’re visiting for breakfast or lunch you’ll find a delectable array of options to satisfy your cravings.

Breakfast: Begin your day with a mouthwatering breakfast sandwich, biscuits and gravy, French toast, or an omelet. Many menu items were inspired by successful dishes from the Cafe Kindred menu.
Lunch: The diner offers a variety of classic sandwiches. Choose from a cheeseburger, Reuben,  grilled cheese and tomato soup, BLT, and more.
Desserts: No visit to the Leesburg Diner is complete without indulging in their delicious milkshakes. They offer vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and Oreo!
Pastries and Coffee: New ownership brings new goodies to the Leesburg Diner. They now serve amazing homemade pastries and an espresso machine provides an elevated beverage service.

The Leesburg Diner isn’t just a place to grab a bite to eat; it’s a trip down memory lane. Its vintage ambiance, mouthwatering menu, and welcoming atmosphere make it a must-visit for both locals and tourists. Come for the food, stay for the nostalgia, and leave with a heart full of memories. The diner is open Monday – Friday from 7am until 3pm and from 8am until 3pm on Saturday and Sunday.
