A trip to Lovettsville, Virginia, is worth the drive for a visit to Georges Mill Farm. This eighth generation family farm produces farmstead cheeses, caramel, gelato, soaps, and pork. While their cheeses and gelato are amazing, our favorite part about the farm is kidding season. Starting in early March you can reserve a spot to snuggle and bottle feed newborn baby goats!

The Journey to Georges Mill Farm

A journey to Georges Mill Farmtake you along scenic roads that wind through the idyllic countryside. Upon arrival, the farm’s rustic charm captivates visitors, creating an atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable adventure.

Farmstead Cheesemaking Operation

Every wheel of cheese produced at the farm comes from milk produced by their goat herd. The herd started in 2012 with just 4 alpine dairy goats, with LaMancha and mini Nubian genetics added in subsequent years. Today, most of the goats in the herd were born and raised on the farm. The milking and cheesemaking occurs seasonally, beginning with kidding in early March.

The Baby Goat Encounter

Each spring at the farm is kidding season. The farm welcomes a new generation of baby goats, and invites visitors to experience the unique personality of each kid. As you approach the designated petting area, the curious eyes of these fluffy companions meet yours, creating an instant connection that is both heartwarming and magical. The gentle nature of these animals makes them perfect companions for visitors of all ages. Whether you’re a child giggling with delight or an adult seeking a moment of respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life, the baby goats at Georges Mill Farm are sure to bring a smile to your face.

Feeding Time Fun

If you choose, you can also bottle feed the baby goats during your visit. The farm staff will guide you through the feeding process, ensuring both the safety of the animals and the enjoyment of your experience. Witnessing the enthusiasm of the baby goats as they eagerly drink from the bottle you are holding is a heartening and joyous experience.

Plan Your Visit

Be sure to check the Georges Mill Farm website for more information about the farm and to purchase tickets to pet or feed the baby goats. Baby goat experiences are available on both weekdays and weekends in March and April, but book early because timeslots will sell out.
